Children’s Programs
Children’s Education
Children’s Ministry at St. Paul’s focuses on the whole child, nurturing children spiritually, emotionally, socially, and cognitively. We strive to teach children that our faith is grounded on an understanding that God is love. We believe that faith is lived out in our daily lives through caring for others and all of God’s creation. We build our faith on a relationship with God and a strong sense of community among children and nurturing adults.
Church School
Sundays – 9:30, Third Floor
Church School welcomes children from three years of age through high school. Children hear stories and traditions of our faith, pray for one another and others, and learn to apply the teachings of Jesus to their daily lives. Learning to be good stewards of our earth and caring for those who are tired, sick, lonely, hungry, and homeless are important parts of the Church School curriculum.
Youth Group
The St. Paul’s Youth Group promotes young people’s spiritual growth by drawing them into responsible participation in the life, mission and work of St. Paul’s Community and our Diocese. St. Paul’s Youth Group seeks to reach believing and non-believing youth and encourage them to grow in faith as they explore their ministries and honor God with their lives.
We connect with young people in other area parishes through programs such as Missionpalooza. We grow through educational programs, such as Sunday Church School, confirmation classes, and other offerings. We serve through mission and service programs like Meals on Wheels and the Food Pantry. We participate in worship, often serving as Sunday school teachers for the younger children.
Diocesan Youth Events
Lots of things are going on for youth in our Diocese, which gives young people the chance to meet and have fun with other Episcopalians across western Missouri. Check these out on the Diocese of West Missouri Youth Ministries website.
MissionPalooza
MissionPalooza is a five-day summer program sponsored by the Episcopal Dioceses of West Missouri and Kansas. Its objectives are to teach teens to put their faith into action, work together in community, and grow in fellowship. During MissionPalooza, teens serve in a variety of urban missions, following Christ’s call to feed the hungry, visit the sick, and comfort those in need.
Evenings are filled with programs and worship presented by area clergy and lay ministers. There is fun too — things like movies, sightseeing in Kansas City, a pool party, and a trip to Worlds of Fun.
In 2010, MissionPalooza will be held July 13-18 at St. Paul’s in Kansas City. The event is for students finishing grades 8-12 of the school year prior to the event.
Registration forms can be obtained at St. Paul’s or can be downloaded off the Diocese of West Missouri MissionPalooza website. You will need Acrobat Reader to view and print the forms.
