St. Luke’s/St. Paul’s Health Fair
In collaboration with St. Luke’s (Episcopal) Hospital, St. Paul’s Neighborhood Health Fair is held in September of each year. We host over 30 booths, offering education on various health-related topics and offering several screenings, including bone density, cholesterol, blood typing, blood glucose levels, and blood pressure.
There are also several fun activities for kids. The Teddy Bear Clinic is always a big hit; this clinic gives children the chance to bring a furry stuffed friend to the fair for a check up. The stuffed animal goes through all of the screenings that an actual patient would go through, including getting an ID bracelet and wearing a gown and gloves. There is also a moon walk/bounce, and other fun kid activities.
We always need lots of volunteers for this event. While it is a lot of fun, it is also an important ministry to people in Midtown who might not otherwise receive some of these basic medical check-ups.
