Service and Volunteering at St. Paul’s

Many people volunteer their time and talent toward ministries at St. Paul’s, and new volunteers are always welcome and appreciated! Some of those ministries reach outward to our neighbors, like food assistance programs, while others support church services and activities.

Almost every day of the year someone is working to provide food to persons in need.

Every Sunday, parishioners perform many roles in worship including preparing the altar, reading the Scriptures, lighting the candles, leading prayers of healing, operating the video cameras and livestream, greeting people and providing help as ushers. Young people serve as acolytes, assisting those serving Communion and participating in the processions at the start and end of the service. Still more roles are performed in other ministries that are addressed elsewhere on this website, like singing in the choir, teaching in Godly Play or planning or facilitating the Adult Forum.

We receive many benefits from serving, including strengthening our relationship with God, helping our neighbors and community, learning, gaining new skills and building confidence.

“My friends, life is short, and we do not have much time to gladden the hearts of those who travel with us along the way. So be swift to love, slow to anger, make haste to be kind, remember the poor and hungry in our midst, and may the blessing of God be with you, always. Amen.”
